The Maurienne know-how
For many years the Maurienne has been home to traditional trades: the wandering boiler, the bee-keeper, the shepherd, the knife-sharpener...
Story-tellers are also part of this landscape and help to keep the past and the legends alive. Zian des Alpes is renowned for exchanging stories about the Aiguilles d’Arves region and is the creator and artistic director of the Festival des Contes et Légendes de Montagne (mountain tales and legends festival) held at Albiez since 1996. In 1997, he also founded Les Sentiers des Légendes d’Albiez (the Ambiez legend trails). He has also written two books, Contes et Légendes du Pays des Aiguilles d’Arves (volume I and II, edited by Editions Derrier) in which he relates his experiences.
